How do you maintain excitement with someone after the first meeting?

I met this brilliant girl the night before she was scheduled to embark on a week-long trip across a small portion of the country. How do I know she’s brilliant? Because she knew she had to do something to keep up the positive feelings we had for each other over the course of the week.
